My compositions have been either stereo or stem based but created for presentation on multichannel systems. These pieces imagine near-future science fiction worlds, shaped from abstract and abstracted computer-generated sounds, alongside altered and synthetic voices. Under the name Elective Mute, I have created shorter pieces—concentrated on explorations of noisier, more gestural sonic material.
I hear my own sound world as exploring mimetic sound shapes that evoke latent feelings of anomie. I use acousmatic techniques with computer based sound synthesis as a speculative tool for creating new sonic situations. I am also incorporate synthetic voice as a way to imagine and articulate speculative futures.
